An appeal by the founder of AsoloInternationalArtFestival - Attilio Zamperoni

Ten years ago, when I decided to revive the Asolo Art Film and Artists’ Biographies Festival, I received many sceptical and at times even sneering comments.

My goal was to restore the first international festival dedicated to art films, founded in Asolo by the unforgettable Paulon Flavia in 1973. The goal seemed ambitious, but my passion for this project motivated me to accomplish the challenge, giving rise to the non-profit organization AsoloInternationalArtFestival.

Ten years later, my battle is not yet won, but it’s at an extremely promising point! Some encouraging facts: a media library with over 6,000 films on art from a hundred nations and an average of 600 films participating in the festival every year.

AsoloArtFilmFestival is now an event that attracts a large number of young film and art enthusiasts to Asolo, both Italian and international, enabling them to confront each other and grow. This is the result of the collaboration among people who believe in culture, in teamwork and in the possibility of a better society.

You too can be part of this initiative,

And today I am writing to ask you to protect and support AsoloArtFilmFestival.

Together we can achieve many goals:

• To compensate for the significant cut in Italian government grants for cultural activities;
• To support a historical film festival which gives credit and visibility to works that would otherwise find no place in the broadcast distribution and in the television industry;
• To develop the media library in order to make it accessible to everybody;
• To spread both the film culture and Italian and International culture, through artistic and cultural events organized throughout the year by the association;
• To promote the coming together of different cultures also through the cooperation with the international film schools who actively participate in the festival.

AsoloInternationalArtFestival is an example of how people and especially young people, can do great things. But it is the cohesive commitment and perseverance of everyone that can make the difference in supporting a non-profit organization, which contributes in its own small way to the cultural growth of the territory.

Starting from this year, on the occasion of the thirtieth edition of AsoloArtFilmFestival, I would like to involve all of you to help AIAF and to support this project with a small donation.

Every long journey begins with one small step and I would like to take this step with you towards a culturally and intellectually enriched society!
